Bringing out the REAL love of the game
“During high school I was never able to join AAU, but I still wanted to improve my game while playing against others who were as dedicated to the game as I was. Anfinson’s helped me to become a well-rounded player by giving me a better understanding of the game. Playing against players of different skill levels helped me to build confidence in driving to the basket while also giving me better court awareness. I was able to develop my defense through 3-on-3 by being able to focus on the player I was guarding and relying less on help defense. Mark’s knowledge and passion for the game is exemplified in his ability to improve players’ fundamentals while also giving them a greater love for the game.”
“Playing basketball at Anfinson’s has been one of the most significant activities and time periods of my life. When I started playing at Anfinson’s I was unsure whether I even wanted to continue playing the sport that I had dedicated the first half of my life to. The sport that deep down I still loved. However, the joy, experiences, friendships, and skills that I developed when I played at Anfinson’s recaptured the love that I had for basketball and changed my mind about continuing. Mark Anfinson possesses the basketball and intellectual skills to make an individual a better player and person all in the same afternoon.”
“I had the opportunity to work with Mark over the past 15 years. It would be easy for me to tell you how much my jump shot has improved, how much better my court vision is, or how much better my ball handling skills are. Those are the easy things to measure. What we can’t measure is the love of the game that Mark has brought out in me. I thought I loved basketball when I was in high school. Looking back, I did – but not the way I do now. There aren’t really words that can explain how I feel about basketball, how basketball has helped me grow as a person, or how basketball has turned me into the man I am today. Playing basketball with Mark – and it really is playing – has changed my skill level, my understanding, and my feel for the game. It developed friendships that are strong 15 years later. That passion has paid off tenfold in the rest of my life. ”
